The Cambridge Lectures 2025
Thomas Mathews attended the Cambridge Lectures over one week in July 2025, an esteemed legal conference hosted at Queens’ College, University of Cambridge. The Cambridge Lectures have occurred every two years since its inception in 1979.
The Cambridge Lectures are a part of The Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies. The Institute was founded by the Right Honourable Paul Martin, Canada’s former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Thomas Mathews had the pleasure of hearing presentations from Bob Rae, Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations and the Honourable Ralph Goodale, High Commissioner for Canada to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
Attendees were especially grateful that all nine Justices of the Supreme Court of Canada were in attendance throughout the week.
The Cambridge Lectures focus upon legal thought in Canada and the United Kingdom, bringing together recognized members of the legal profession from both countries.
